ACTION NEEDED
PLEASE SUBMIT A QUESTION TO REP. BRAD SHERMAN!
As you may have heard, FAA head Stephen Dickson recently announced that he will resign mid-term. His last day will be March 31, 2022 -- roughly 2 years before his term end date. Congressman Brad Sherman recently sent a letter to President Biden and Transportation Secretary Buttigieg urging them to nominate a new FAA administrator who will prioritize addressing the issue of aviation noise and pollution that has plagued our communities. This is a meaningful and appreciated first step, but more is needed. Rep. Sherman must meet with Secretary Buttigieg to educate him on the real world environmental impacts from FAA NextGen in communities like ours.
Rep. Sherman will host a Telephone Town Hall TOMORROW AT 7 P.M. Please RSVP and submit a question about this in advance at BradSherman.house.gov/TownHall, or, even better, dial (855) 920-0548 tomorrow at 7 p.m. and ask the question live to the Congressman.
Suggested questions (choose one): - Thank you for sending a letter to Secretary Buttigieg about appointing a new FAA Administrator who will meaningfully address jet noise and pollution from FAA NextGen flight path changes. Will you please also schedule a meeting as soon as possible with Secretary Buttigieg to educate him on this issue? - Will you work with the Quiet Skies Caucus in a joint effort to replace Stephen Dickson with a new FAA Administrator who will prioritize immediate relief from NextGen flight path changes?
UPDATE ON BURBANK TERMINAL LAWSUIT
L.A. CITY ATTORNEY TELLS BUR TO STOP PLANNING NEW TERMINAL!
Thanks to advocacy and public pressure, the City Attorney wrote a letter to BUR on Friday instructing them to cease planning the new Replacement Terminal pending completion of the City's legal challenge. The letter further states that if the Court rules against BUR, "the City will seek an order halting all activities aimed at implementing the Project." The Court's ruling will likely come in a few months. READ THE CITY ATTORNEY'S FULL LETTER HERE. We are grateful that the City Attorney has done this for the community. Despite the City's lawsuit, BUR has been moving forward with their terminal planning. Thank you for contacting the City Attorney's office in response to the request from our sister organization Studio City for Quiet Skies. UproarLA and Studio City for Quiet Skies have been asking the City Attorney to take action for months. It was YOUR calls and emails that made a difference.
